Phil Matson is the youngest child of Garth Matson and his second wife, Helga. He has one full sister, Carrie, a full brother, Rodney and two half-siblings from his father's first marriage, Frank and Barbara.
Phil was born in Spearfish Lake around 1950 and graduated from college in the spring of 1971. He took a job in Florida.
