Anissa Peterson Hodges is a native of Spearfish Lake and was born in 1966, a contemporary of Brandy Evachevski. Like her, she was a star basketball player and a 12 letter athlete. She married Dean Hodges right after graduating High School and, in her words "averaged a child every other year since". (Facing the Storm, Epilogue) Her second eldest is Sarah.

Anissa was recruited sometime around 1998 by Mike McMahon as the sportswriter for the Record-Herald, since she was going to all the varisty sports games anyway. Her writing in her column, Marlin Sport Talk has improved from practice in subsequent years.

Anissa was an instant supporter of Brandy's placement as basketball coach in Facing the Storm and, as could be expected, she was present at the Spearfish Lake Lady Marlin's first basketball game of the season and witnessed their first win in years.
