Rhonda Whitsell, trail name "Scooter", a solidly-built brunette first met Crystal Chladek at Ocoee Adventures in Ducktown, Tn. in 1995. Like Crystal, had been through OLTA (does this exist? What does it stand for?). She did the Appalachian Trail (AT) in 1993. She and Crystal become friends and Scooter starts the AT with Crystal in 1997 but is forced to drop out because of bad knees.In 1999 Crystal, by then working at Canyon Tours, needed an experienced rafter and called her.
