Rod Turpin is a volunteer firefighter and EMT in Snowplow Extra. He is a stock character in many stories but so far there has been little back story on Rod. He is still with the fire department in 1997. He was functionally illiterate but covered it well until Randy Clark discovered it in Dawnwalker and urged him to correct the problem, which he did with the assistance of Linda Clark (Randy's mother). He is married and has children, but no details have ever been revealed about them.
We learned in Andromeda Chained that Rod was a Golden Glove boxer and bar brawler and is a part of the House of Mayhem self-defense meetings in town.
Rod is described as short, although not as short as Randy Clark and probably in his forties in 1997. While small, he is "hard and muscled, although with an infectious pixieness in his smile". Andromeda Chained Chapter 13.
