Wendy Carter is a lead character in Andromeda Chained. She had a crippling jet-ski accident in 1992 (prior to the start of the book), and is confined to a wheelchair, virtually paraplegic except for some limited movement in one hand.

Wendy lives at home with her parents and frequent visits by her sister, Carole Carter. Prior to her accident, Wendy was described as "bright, intelligent, beautiful, popular". She still maintains a surprisingly cheerful manner.
