'''Larry McDermott''' was a Mechanical Engineering professor at [[Georgia Tech]]. He taught both [[Chladek, Jon|Jon Chladek]] and [[Blythe, Tanisha|Tanisha Blythe]] Stress Analysis at 8am, 3 days a week, for the Spring 1997 semester.  He helps them get a paid summer internship with [[Lambdatron]], much as he had with a previous student of his, [[Geletzke, Jim|Jim Geletzke]]. The professor had realized Griz was more than just an athlete and recruited him.<sup>[[Alone Together Chapter 7|AT07]]</sup>

Dr. McDermott was described as "balding". Among students he had a ''"reputation as a hard-nosed bastard"'' but fair.
