'''Harold Hekkinan''', taught Political Science and coached football at the high school for 20 years,  but is now the Principal.  He's a Vietnam vet, having been a lieutenant in the First Cavalry Division, and returned wounded.  He still draws 20% disability. He went to Vietnam with the Toivo Expedition in [[Absent Friend]].  He caught a bit of the archaeology bug when [[Matson, Rod |Rod Matson]] was teaching the expedition what to look for,  so spent a number of summers working for Rod as a digger.  

As Principal of the High School, he initially mishandled the fight that got [[Bailey, Jason|Jason Bailey]] expelled, until [[Hodunk, Brenda|Brenda Hodunk]] did her investigation for the newspaper, as found in [[Andromeda Chained]], Ch.6-7.

Harold appears in [[Facing the Storm]], Chapter 35, when his need for a Basketball coach, one that hasn't been tainted by the prior Title IX lawsuit, as well as a Math and Science teacher, neatly solves a problem with [[Evachevski, Brandy|Brandy Wine's]] free time.
