Wiki editing conventions cheat sheet. I normally keep this open in Notepad on my computer while I am editing. That way all I have to do is copy and paste and then if necessary edit the string after pasting it into the edit box on the wiki. This saves me a lot of time and makes editing (for a non coder like me at least) less of a challenge. To have a link tied to a name when the link reads differerently from the way you want the name to display use: Jackie Archer The first part “Archer, Jackie” is the actual page name and link. The second part “Jackie Archer” is how it will read on the page when saved. See the page for the book Rocinante. Look at how the text reads then click “edit” and see how it was formatted. This is handy because it displays the name properly but still lets it link to the proper page. When creating categories and sub categories use the following to have everything sort properly: Or Thisis the standard convention for character and location pages. It is always a good idea to have a number of blank lines between the last of the copy and this coding. That will help users keep their additions above this coding. If they enter data below this coding on the edit page their entries will appear below the links. Look at the Gill Evachevski or Mark Gravengood character pages or the Spearfish Lake location page for examples. To have a link to an external web page do the following: Spearfish Lake Tales The first part http://www.spearfisklaketales.com/ is the link. The second part “Spearfish Lake Tales” is how it will appear on the page after saving. To link to an internal page do the following: SPLTWiki style The first part “SPLTstyle” is the link. The second part “SPLTWiki style” is how it will appear on the page after saving. Or if the actual page name is how you want it to appear use: Books Characters Locations Activities Timelines Google Earth and the Spearfish Lake Tales Shared Documents from Users In this case the link and the display are the same.
